Horary Astrology: Fertility Question

Sometimes horary astrology is the best option, especially when there is a specific question with time constraints, or where the answer to a question needs to happen within a specific time frame.

A woman offered her natal chart to the r/askastrologers subreddit to answer the question below. I decided to use horary astrology to give her a more specific answer, especially since there was a timing factor involved.

1) I have 1 month to get pregnant before I’m sent to a fertility specialist. Any insight from my chart about going down this path? 2) I keep being told I need to better manage stress-nothing seems to work. Does my chart give insight into how to best do this?

Connections Between the Horary Chart and the Natal Chart

First of all, it’s so interesting to be able to use a horary astrology chart in tandem with a natal chart. Things should generally match up between the charts, which is also the case here.

The horary IC is almost the exact degree of the natal ascendant in Aquarius, making me wonder if your father or immediate family are influencing/pressuring the situation. More importantly though, Jupiter, ruler of the horary 5th, is in Aquarius. This is affecting you on an identity level.

The Moon, which is one of the most important planets in horary astrology, is in Gemini, the sign of the natal 5th house, which is the house of children.

The cusp of the horary 11th of hopes and wishes is Virgo, and is very close to the natal Mercury, who is ruler of the natal 5th.

The horary Ascendant and Venus, ruler of the horary 7th, are surrounding the natal Pluto.

The Horary Chart

With horary astrology questions, we always look first to the ascendant and its ruler to find the querent, or person asking the question. Scorpio rises with Venus in the 1st in her detriment. Scorpio is one of the three fertile signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) and Venus is one of the planets that “promise” children. Despite being in detriment, this is a good omen for overall fertility. The Arabic Part of Children is 26 Libra, also ruled by Venus. Once again, this is a good sign for overall fertility.

The detriment is not a good sign for the partner you’re having a baby with. It seems from the chart that everyone involved is being destabilized by this situation. The Venus in the 1st in detriment shows maybe an obsessive focus on the situation by the partner. The Uranus on the 7th points to a possibility that this challenge may be destabilizing the marriage, or forcing it to go through some kind of renovation.

Fertile Pisces is on the cusp of the 5th house, and Jupiter is in Aquarius. Venus, ruler of the 7th, is applying to the square of Jupiter. Venus is the only planet making an aspect to Jupiter in this chart. This is what initially made me think that this is creating difficulty for the partner as well, which may be stressing you out as well.

Mars is the ruler of Scorpio. He is also in the sign of his detriment of Libra and in combustion by the Sun. Combustion can be interpreted as “burnout.” Both Sun and Mars are in some form of detriment in Libra. Libra is the people-pleaser of the zodiac, giving us a burned-out people-pleaser Mars. That tendency may be leading to your stress. Note that this fertile Venus is the ruler of Mars, so I don’t doubt your overall ability to have children.

Moon is on the cusp of the 8th house of fear and trauma. The Moon as the fastest planet also rules speed (with Mercury, who has wings) and changeability. The message in that for me is that speed is key to darkness and the underworld. The 8th house is called “falling down into the underworld.” Needing to do things quickly is the beginning of trauma.

Return of Virtue

Neither Mars, ruler of the 1st, or Moon are applying to an aspect of Jupiter. The Moon is however applying to the aspect of Mars. That would often be considered a sign of “perfection” or “a thing coming to be.” In this case, there are a few things that impede the Moon from being able to transmit a good outcome. The Moon is impeded by her position in Gemini, a sterile sign, her proximity to the north node and her aspect to a planet in detriment, in this case Mars. Mars is weakened by detriment and combustion. His combustion actually creates a condition called “return of virtue,” where the planet is too compromised by combustion or retrogradation to accept what another planet brings by aspect.

Lastly, Jupiter, the ruler of the 5th, is also the natural ruler of fertility. Jupiter is retrograde and in the same sign with Saturn, who rules Aquarius. Saturn is the planet of slowness, and he both rules the sign Jupiter is in and is present in the sign with him.

My answer is that speed is not your friend. I think you can get pregnant, but not within the time frame you want. I’m also wondering if your mother is a contributing factor to the burn-out.

The Querent Responds

Thank you. This was incredibly helpful. I am getting pressure from my father and my mother is a source of burnout so, you hit the nail on the head there.

My partner is struggling career wise but doesn’t seem overly concerned with TTC. He’s confident it will happen when it’s meant to and we will find a way (an attitude I wish I could get). Overall, for me, this experience has been extremely stressful.
