Horary Astrology Chart: “Will I Get The Seed Money?”
The querent (person asking the question) of this horary astrology chart wonders if an investor’s money will come to his business’s money. The investor could be either 11th or 7th. I lean towards the 11th. The investor’s money would be the 2nd from the 11th or 12th house. The querent’s business is the 10th house, and his business’s resources would be the 11th house. So we’re looking for a connection (applying aspect) between the 11th and the 12th houses.
One of the ways to understand whether the successful outcome of a situation will come to be in horary astrology is if the significators for the querent (the person asking the question) and the quesited (that which is being asked about) are strong, well-placed and in applying aspect (preferably with reception).
A Question of Which Significators to Use
If we use the 7th house for the investor, the 8th house would be the resources of the investor, and our significators would be the 8th and 11th houses.
All we’re interested in is then the 8th or 12th and 11th houses.
Understanding Aspect Configurations in Horary Astrology
Part of the way we understand how events take place is through aspect happenings like translation of light, besiegement, return of virtue, prohibition, etc. It is my belief that they provide a narrative based on their name and how the planets operate in each configuration.
The part of fortune is in the 1st house. The part of fortune is considered the main indicator for financial wealth and acquisition in the medieval period, so this is meaningful. The part of Fortune is in Sagittarius, making Jupiter its ruler and ruler of the ascendant. Jupiter is retrograde in Aquarius.
We immediately have two signs that things are not going well financially for your friend’s business. Venus, ruler of the 11th is in the 12th house and in the last degree of Scorpio, her detriment. The company’s financial situation is about to change towards serious fund raising, as the Scorpio Venus would indicate that the funds are not very good now. Venus is moving into the sign of the part of fortune, Sagittarius, which doesn’t help her much but focuses her towards financial goals. At the very beginning of Sagittarius is the south node, that is not a good sign for future gains.
We also have signs that the answer looks like yes, but is really no. The 11th house of friends in high places is extremely busy. The 11th is also the house of future hopes and wishes, and as mentioned before, the financial resources of the querent’s business. That the Moon, co-ruler of all matters, is there makes perfect sense. This is where the concern is for the native.
The Moon is highly impeded in this chart, which obviously will affect the outcome. The Moon is conjunct a malefic, combust and conjunct a retrograde planet. Indeed the Moon has just left a state of besiegement, where she was recently in between the Sun and Mars. Her next aspect is to the conjunction of Mercury, ruler of the 7th. Remember, we’re looking for a connection between the ruler of the 11th (or 8th) and the ruler of the 12th, or a connection between the Moon and the ruler of the 11th, 12th or POF. Moon is in the 11th and ruling the 8th.
The Moon has just separated from the conjunction of the ruler of the 12th (possible donor’s money). If he’s already spoken to someone about it, it doesn’t look like it will happen (maybe there’s even a recent disappointment behind him).
What Is Return of Virtue?
Now, more to my point. This chart is full of something called “return of virtue,” and that isn’t a good sign for a chart looking for seed money. The return of virtue also includes a “translation of light.
A return of virtue takes place when planet a is applying to planet b, but planet b is combust or retrograde. Planet b is too compromised to take on what is being given by planet a, and returns it.
There are two types of return of virtue: with fitness (the issue can still possibly happen) and with debility. Generally is planet a is direct and in an angle or succedent house, the return is with fitness and the situation can possibly still take place.
The return with debility involves a planet a who is either cadent or combust or retrograde.
In this case the applying planet (planet a) is the Moon, which is extremely important for a horary as she is lady luck. The Moon is combust and applying to the conjnction of a retrograde Mercury, ruler of the 7th. An old business partner may come back into the picture with a possible prospect. Mercury is separating from the trine to Jupiter and mutually applying to the conjunction of the Moon. Thus Mercury is translating the light between Jupiter (L1 and POF) and the Moon. This should be a good thing.
However, because the Moon is combust, Mercury is retrograde and Jupiter is retrograde these planets can’t actually transfer their light to each other. Mercury is returning virtue to the Moon, who can’t accept it, and when the Moon finally gets to Jupiter, he will also return the virtue. Because the Moon is combust, the return of virtue is with debility.
I went into all of that detail because of the return of virtue in the chart, but we can also see that the answer is no from the lack of applying aspect between either Venus and Mars or Moon and Mars.
